When did MakemyTrip start in India?


Continuing his success with MakeMyTrip, he co-founded Ibibo in 2006. Ibibo was an online travel portal that introduced the Travel Bar concept to make online travel transactions simple and secure.


In 2008, he founded GoIbibo for aggregating hotel rooms inventory of OTAs and metasearch sites across India on a common platform.


Following this in 2010, he launched RedBus which went on to become the largest bus ticketing company in India in a year.


At present, MakeMyTrip is India’s market leader when it comes to Online Travel Agencies. It has been able to maintain its lead by being very agile with its product offering and marketing strategy including using digital, social media, and radio to appeal to a large base of Indian consumers.

Mayank has over 19 years of experience in the industry with exposure across multiple domains including technological, marketing, business management, strategy functions.


Earlier he was associated with companies like IBM, TCS, and Millicom International Cellular where he handled technology and marketing roles.


During his tenure with MakeMyTrip, Mayank led MakeMyTrip’s growth from a 3 employee startup to an organization of about 4500 employees across 31 countries and with revenues touching US$ 1 billion annually (FY15). He successfully launched MakeMyTrip in international markets such as Malaysia & Indonesia apart from various European countries.
